Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “The description only says this helmet is DOT rated, not ECE 22.06. So I was quite surprised when it came with an ECE sticker on the back! The helmet itself is pretty good. I’m using it for e-biking, not motorcycling. I found that even at low speeds biking uphill, this was ventilated enough for me not to overheat in 80 degree weather. Closing the vents will probably make it nice and warm in the winter, too. Very light (3lb I think? Medium size) so it didn’t feel awkward at low speed. The tinted visor is dark enough to block the sun, and the sun visor is an nice touch. At 35mph, I feel protected enough by the chin guard (which “does not protect chin from impacts”) but I wouldn’t want to use this at higher speeds on a motorcycle. The helmet also has speaker slots, which will be nice. My biggest issue is how tight it is putting it on. I’m getting better at it, so maybe it’s just me, but it’s tighter than another full face helmet I tried. Overall, great value for $90. Especially with ECE 22.06!Also, if you don’t like the style, look at the ILM Z302, which has more color options and looks better (in my opinion).”

Customer Review: “Tight fit, but comfortable. Fits snug, like it should. I took the advice of other reviewers’ posts & got one a size bigger. I’m really liking the design & I can still hear clearly when using my Ebike. Arrived a day early. Good price for the quality. Oh, and there are air vents you can open & close built into the helmet. The internal padding is plush and warm. Visibility is great!”

Customer Review: “Love this helmet! I think my favorite part about this helmet is that it FEELS comfortable and very adjustable. Lots of helmets can feel stiff at times, but this one has an adjustable strap for the chin and you can adjust the helmet sizing a bit on the backside of the helmet by twisting the knob. I can tell it’s not cheaply thrown together either! You really can’t beat this price, lots of helmets can cost you easily $30-60 these days and for a good quality helmet you’re paying a good price! Luckily i haven’t taken any hits to the head with the helmet on, but after a few knocks on the helmet itself you can really feel the shock absorption. Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I’ve been skateboarding for years, and finding the right helmet has always been a challenge. After trying a few different brands, I decided to go with the Triple Eight Certified Sweatsaver Helmet, and I have to say—it’s easily one of the best helmets I’ve worn.At first, I ordered the L/XL size, but it was too loose. Even with the padding, it would shift around and felt unstable, especially when I shook my head. I have a 22.5-inch head circumference, so I decided to exchange it for a Small/Medium, and the difference was night and day. The fit is snug but incredibly comfortable—I honestly forget I’m even wearing it sometimes! What I Love About This Helmet:✅ Perfect Fit – Once I got the right size, it felt secure without being too tight. No slipping, no wobbling—just a solid, comfortable fit.✅ Great Protection – It’s dual-certified, meaning it meets safety standards for both skateboarding and biking. Gives me peace of mind when I’m out skating.✅ Sweatsaver Liner – This feature is a game-changer. The soft, moisture-wicking padding keeps sweat from dripping down my face, and it doesn’t get itchy or uncomfortable.✅ Stylish Look – The matte finish and sleek design make it look great. It doesn’t have that bulky, awkward helmet shape some other brands have.A Few Things to Keep in Mind:🔹 Sizing Can Be Tricky – Definitely check the size chart and consider going down a size if you’re between two options. My first one was too big, but the exchange process was easy.🔹 Not Super Adjustable – Unlike some helmets with a dial-adjust system, this one relies on the fit of the padding, so picking the right size is key.Final Thoughts:If you’re looking for a high-quality, comfortable, and stylish helmet for skateboarding, BMX, roller derby, or roller skating, I highly recommend the Triple Eight Certified Sweatsaver. Once you find your perfect size, you won’t even notice you’re wearing it—until it saves you from a nasty fall. Definitely worth it!⭐ 5/5 – Would buy again!”

Customer Review: “Comfortable and stylish helmet that meets all the safety standards. I can easily wear this helmet for hours without it getting uncomfortable. The fit it great, and I the strap is easily adjustable. A quality helmet at a great price.”

Complete Buying Guide for Best Helmet For E Scooter

Essential Factors We Consider

When searching for the best helmet for e scooter riders, safety is paramount. We look for helmets that meet recognized safety standards like CPSC (for bicycles, often applicable to e-scooters) and DOT (for motorcycles, offering even higher protection). Beyond certifications, we consider features like impact absorption (EPS foam), coverage area (how much of your head is protected), and retention systems (straps and buckles) that ensure a snug, secure fit. Visibility is also key, so we favor helmets with integrated lights or reflective elements. Comfort, including ventilation and padding, is crucial for enjoyable rides, and adjustability ensures a good fit for different head shapes and sizes. We also consider specific e-scooter needs, such as certifications for higher speeds if applicable, like the NTA-8776 standard.

Budget Planning

Helmets for e-scooters can range from around $30 to over $200. Basic, certified skate-style helmets offer good protection at an affordable price. Mid-range options, typically $50-$100, often add features like better ventilation, more refined padding, or integrated lighting. High-end helmets, $100+, usually incorporate advanced safety technologies, premium materials, smart features like Bluetooth, or specialized certifications for higher speeds. For most e-scooter riders, a helmet in the $50-$100 range provides an excellent balance of safety, comfort, and features.

Final Thoughts

Choosing the right helmet is a personal decision based on your riding style, speed, and budget. Always prioritize safety certifications and ensure a proper fit. Whether you opt for a helmet with integrated lights for maximum visibility, a feature-rich option with Bluetooth, or a classic protective design, investing in a quality helmet is one of the smartest decisions you can make for your e-scooter adventures. Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What safety certifications should I look for in an e-scooter helmet?

A: The most common certifications to look for are CPSC (often used for bicycle helmets, which are widely accepted for e-scooters) and DOT (for motorcycle helmets, offering higher protection). For higher-speed e-bikes, the NTA-8776 standard is also relevant.

Q: How do I ensure my helmet fits correctly?

A: A properly fitting helmet should sit level on your head, covering your forehead. The straps should form a “V” shape under your ears, and the chin strap should be snug but not uncomfortable. Most helmets have a dial-adjust system at the back for fine-tuning the fit.

Q: Do I need a specific e-scooter helmet, or can I use a bicycle helmet?

A: For most standard e-scooters, a CPSC-certified bicycle helmet is perfectly adequate. If you’re riding a faster e-bike, especially one that approaches or exceeds 20 mph, consider helmets with higher speed certifications like NTA-8776 or DOT. The ILM 726X reviewed here is a good example of a more robust option.

Q: Are helmets with lights and turn signals worth the extra cost?

A: Absolutely, especially if you ride in traffic or during dawn/dusk/night. Integrated lights significantly increase your visibility to other road users, and remote-controlled turn signals add an extra layer of safety and convenience, as seen in the Commute Smart helmet.

Q: How often should I replace my e-scooter helmet?

A: You should replace your helmet every 3-5 years, even if it hasn’t been in an accident, as materials can degrade over time. If your helmet has been involved in a crash, it must be replaced immediately, as it may have internal damage that isn’t visible.

Riding your e-scooter should be an exhilarating experience, and with the right helmet, you can enjoy that freedom with peace of mind. We’ve highlighted some of the best options available, from high-visibility choices to those offering advanced communication features. Don’t compromise on safety – pick up one of these top helmets today and hit the road with confidence!
