Customer Reviews

Customer Review: Excellent quality scooter board that will easily support heavier weights than most scooters. I have placed close to 320 pounds on mine with no issue. The wheels are perfect because they don’t mess up flooring in homes and they roll really easily. This scooter board sits higher off the floor than most which makes it even easier for adults and tall children to use. I use this with pediatric physical therapy patients often and they love it, plus I can use it to sit and scoot on when helping little ones walk without having to bend over. It’s even big enough to sit on and scoot with them when they are having trouble scooting it themselves. This scooter lasts for years with no major signs of wear and tear. Worth the investment in a higher quality scooter board if you plan to use it much!

– Verified Purchaser

Customer Review: This scooter board was a definite hit at Christmas for my grandson. In fact, his brother and sister enjoy using it as well. The scooter is very well built and sturdy. The wheels roll very smoothly and quietly. It’s very easy to maneuver while sitting or standing. Another excellent feature is the clear plastic shroud/guard positioned at each corner to prevent the scooter from banging into walls. This is a must have for active kids.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: JUST RECEIVED THE SCOOTER, ASSEMBLY WAS REALLY EASY. THE ONLY PROBLEM THERE ISN’T ANY PLACE IN THE INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO UNLOCK THE FRONT WHEEL. I PLAYED AROUND WITH IT AWHILE AND THEN PULLED ON IT AND IT SNAPPED INTO AN OUTER POSITION. ME AND THE WIFE LAUGHED OUT HEADS OFF. WHY COULDN’T THEY PUT THAT IN THE INSTRUCTIONS. IT’S KINDA HARD TO PLUG THE AC CONNECTOR INTO THE BATTERY, BUT IT’S NOT THAT HARD. IT STATES IN THE MANUAL THAT YOU MUST CHARGE FOR 6 TO 9 HOURS BEFORE FIRST USE, BUT MY SCOOTER CAME FULLY CHARGED. I RODE IT AROUND THE HOUSE AND IT RIDES NICE. I HAVEN’T TRIED TO LOAD IT IN MY TRUNK YET, SO I’LL LET YOU KNOW HOW THAT WORKED OUT. BYE THE WAY THE SCOOTER COMES WITH A WARRANTY. BATTERY 6 MONTH AND DIFFERENT PARTS DIFFERENT TIMES. I RECOMMEND REGISTERING THE SCOOTER RIGHT AWAY FOR FULL WARRANTY PROTECTION. I’M SURE IT WILL FIT MY NEEDS FOR GOING SHOPPING AND BALL PARKS AND THINGS OF THAT NATURE. I DON’T PLAN ON RIDING IT ON STREETS. Well It doesn’t ride well on our front yard rocks, it only works on a flat surface. I have a Buick Cascada 2016 and i got the scooter in the trunk, but In the fall I’m not going to be able to put the top down with the scooter in it. I had to take it far more apart then 5 pieces just to get it in, had to remove handles from seat, lower seat tube, and remove the basket mounting two screws. That’s why I took a star away. I still believe it will come in handy on trips and if we take the wife’s SUV. I had to go back to 5 stars, this scooter is great, I haven’t been able to go inside Costco for 3 years, and it only took me 10 mins to put it together and 5 mins. to take apart. After we got home we did transfer it into my wife’s SUV, but only because I want to put the top down when it cools off, and we take her SUV on all trips anyway, and if I need it I can just take her car. Anyway I’m more than happy with the way this scooter performs and after an hour of riding around the battery was still fully charged. When we got home, all I needed to bring in the house is the battery pack to keep it charged. I attached pictures, It’s pretty quick, I only had it turned up half way and was buzzing around pretty good, and you can see I’m not a small guy. I did leave the handles off I see no real reason for them, and in Vegas when we rented a scooter i always left the handles up anyway.

– Happy Customer

Customer Review: Since receiving this scooter I have been nothing but impressed with it. It has been on two Jetblue flights, taken apart several times to put into the trunk of my Prius (with ease) to attend New York Mets games and spent 10 days in Walt Disney World. While in Disney it never disappointed! I rode it up and down the bus ramps and monorails with ease and it was simple to parallel park into the designated parking area on each bus. We spent each day from park opening to park closing in Walt Disney World, most days “hopping” between 2 or 3 different parks and my battery never had less than 1/4 power remaining (which did not affect it’s power at all). I would charge it overnight and it would be good to go the next morning at “rope drop”! I received several compliments from others on scooters who noticed how nicely it handled. Almost every bus driver stated that they “wished that all scooters maneuvered this easily”. I spent years renting from local vendors in the Orlando area or directly from Disney itself and buying my own was the smartest investment I have ever made. I only wish I had purchased it years sooner! I completely recommend this 3 wheel Drive Medical Scout Compact Travel Scooter. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have. UPDATE: Another 4 airline flights & 2 Disney Cruises later and this scooter is still working as well as it did on day one! Have I mentioned how much I LOVE this scooter??? UPDATE (2023) – After 7 years, DOZENS of flights, cruises, baseball games & trips to WDW, I finally needed to replace the battery ($50). It still works as well as it did when it was brand new. Still love this scooter!

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: As a parent, I’m always on the lookout for quality, durable toys and sports equipment for my kids, and the LaScoota Kick Scooter definitely fits the bill. After several weeks of use, I’m impressed enough to leave this review – something I don’t do often!Pros:Versatile for Various Ages: The scooter is marketed for kids aged 6+, but even teens and adults can enjoy it. This versatility makes it a great buy for families. My 9-year-old and 10-year-old both ride it comfortably. I have even used it several times.Sturdy Build: The construction is solid. It doesn’t feel flimsy or cheap, which is a relief considering how rough kids can be. The frame is robust and has endured quite a few bumps and drops already.Smooth Ride: The 8″ urethane wheels make a noticeable difference. They glide smoothly on different terrains – from pavements to slightly rougher park paths. My kids have remarked on how “smooth and fast” it feels.Safety First: The braking system is reliable and easy to use, which is a huge plus in my book. I appreciate that my kids can slow down safely, especially when they’re getting a bit too adventurous.Easy to Handle: Despite its sturdiness, the scooter is not overly heavy. My younger child can handle it without much struggle, and it’s easy to carry when needed.Cons:Price Point: It is a bit on the expensive side, but I believe the quality justifies the cost. It’s an investment in a scooter that won’t need replacing any time soon.Storage Size: It’s a bit larger than some other scooters, so storing it takes a bit more space. Not a major issue, but something to consider if you’re tight on space. In conclusion, the LaScoota Kick Scooter is a fantastic choice for families looking for a reliable, fun, and safe scooter. It’s well-built, easy to ride, and should last for years to come. Highly recommended!

– Proud Parent

Customer Review: I’m 47 and I’ve wanted a scooter since my kids got theirs back in the early 2000s. I bought this as a gift for someone else, but even though it was listed as prime, it took over a week to come, so i had to go out and buy a different scooter for her. Since I also just celebrated a birthday, I kept this for myself when it finally arrived. I’m glad I did because my stunted childhood dreams came true! It’s been cold and rainy here but I’ve been riding this baby around my house and it’s every bit as fun as I hoped it would be. I cannot wait to get outside with it! It’s very sturdy and the second height level is perfect for my 5’3 frame. Folding it seems tricky at first, but I found a great YouTube video titled Lascoota Teen Scooter that shows how to pull up while pushing up on the red folding button. Now it’s super easy to fold and unfold. Some weird black plastic piece fell out from where it folds and I’ve emailed the company about it, but so far it doesn’t seem to affect the scooter usage. Replacement parts are readily available, and look pretty inexpensive, from the Lascoota website. Testing the brake inside at low speed, it seems really responsive. The little kickstand is awesome because at my age I’m just so above dumping my $70 scooter on its side in the grass. I’m not planning on doing any rad tricks, and I’m not into getting tiny wheels stuck in cracks, so the larger wheels on this are fabulous because they give such a smooth ride. I’m mostly looking forward to embarrassing my youngest son as I ride around the neighborhood on my super cool pink scooter. I ordered a white helmet to go with this and I’m totally gonna sticker the heck out of it to complete the bad mom effect.

Customer Review: I was a bit hesitant about an electric scooter with a saddle, but the Apex Max surprised me. It’s incredibly comfortable, and the dual shocks really do their job. I use it to get to my local train station, which involves a few miles of road riding, and it handles it beautifully. It’s not a highway rocket, but for roads with a 35-45 mph limit, it’s perfect. Complete Buying Guide for Best Scooter for Highway Use

Essential Factors We Consider

When selecting the best scooter for highway use, we dive deep into several critical factors. First and foremost is speed and power; a scooter needs to be able to comfortably maintain highway speeds, typically meaning at least 25-30 mph, with a motor that offers sufficient acceleration. Range is another key consideration; you don’t want to be stranded, so a scooter with a battery that can cover your expected travel distance, plus a buffer, is essential. Safety features are paramount, including reliable brakes (disc brakes are preferable), bright lights for visibility, and a stable chassis. We also look at build quality and durability, as highway use can be demanding. Comfort, especially for longer rides, is important, so we consider suspension systems, tire types, and whether a seating option is available. Lastly, legal compliance is crucial – ensuring the scooter meets local regulations for road use is something we keep in mind.

Budget Planning

The price of a scooter suitable for highway use can vary significantly. Basic models designed for light commuting might start around a few hundred dollars, while high-performance electric scooters capable of sustained highway speeds, with longer ranges and advanced features, can easily range from $1,000 to $3,000 or more. When budgeting, consider not just the upfront cost but also potential ongoing expenses like electricity for charging, maintenance (tire replacements, brake checks), and insurance if required. Investing in a higher-quality scooter upfront often leads to better reliability and lower long-term costs.

Final Thoughts

Navigating the world of scooters suitable for highway use requires careful consideration of your needs. Whether you prioritize raw speed, long-distance comfort, or a balance of both, there’s a scooter out there for you. Remember to always prioritize safety, understand local regulations, and choose a model that aligns with your budget and commuting requirements. With the right scooter, your commute can transform from a chore into an enjoyable part of your day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the minimum speed a scooter needs for highway use?

A: For safe highway use, a scooter should ideally be capable of reaching speeds of at least 25-30 mph. This allows it to keep pace with slower-moving traffic and provides sufficient maneuverability in highway conditions. Always check local regulations regarding scooter speed limits on public roads.

Q: Can any electric scooter be used on the highway?

A: No, not all electric scooters are designed or legal for highway use. Scooters intended for light recreational use or short commutes typically lack the speed, power, and safety features required for highway environments. Look for scooters specifically marketed for commuting or with higher speed and range capabilities.

Q: What safety features are most important for highway scooters?

A: For highway scooters, crucial safety features include robust braking systems (like dual disc brakes), bright front and rear lights for visibility, sturdy tires for stability, and a well-built frame. Reflective elements and turn signals can also enhance safety. A good suspension system can contribute to stability and control.

Q: How do I know if my scooter is street legal?

A: Street legality varies by location. Generally, scooters designed for highway use will have features like lights, reflectors, and a maximum speed that complies with local laws. It’s essential to research your local transportation laws or contact your local Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or equivalent agency to understand the requirements for operating scooters on public roads.

Q: What is the typical range of a highway-capable scooter?

A: The range can vary significantly based on battery size, rider weight, terrain, and speed. However, for highway use, you’ll want a scooter with a range of at least 20-30 miles on a single charge. High-end models can offer much more, sometimes exceeding 50 miles, making them suitable for longer commutes.

Finding the best scooter for highway use involves balancing power, speed, safety, and comfort. Whether you’re looking for a swift electric option like the Gotrax Apex Max or a robust build like the Limit LMT01-V2, ensuring it meets your specific needs is key. Don’t forget to also consider accessories like rain gear for electric scooters if you plan to ride in various weather conditions. Take your time, research your options, and get ready to hit the road with confidence!
